CSDIW now has JROTC medals that may be awarded to a student of Native American descent.
Please check the Supply Order form (click HERE) for ordering information. The medals have not yet arrived from the Supplier but are expected to arrive in late February/early March. You may pre-order your medal from the Supply Chairman and she will will ship them to you when they are available.
Continental Society, Daughters of Indian Wars JROTC awards may be given annually to outstanding male or female cadets at public or private high schools for general military and scholastic excellence. Only two students per Military Unit at each school may be nominated each year.
The cadets who are selected for this award must:
- Be of Native American heritage (must be proven)
- Exhibit strong military bearing and conduct
- Possess the qualities of patriotism, loyalty, and perseverance as exemplified by the men and women who assisted in the establishment, defense, and preservation of the United States of America
- Demonstrate outstanding leadership potential
- Be a Graduating Senior who has participated in JROTC for at least 2 years
The nominee will be selected by the local Military Unit. Whenever possible, a local representative of the Society should make the award presentation. However, the JROTC instructor may make the presentation if it is impossible for a Society representative to attend.
